This page has been created for the teachers of the Conewago Valley School District as a resource to the types of technology that is available to them. In general, throughout the district, all core content and most of the non-core teachers K-12 have promethean board rds within their classroom as well as mounted data projectors. In addition to the boards each building has specific technology available within it. Below is a list of what is available. New teachers should see your building administrator if you have any questions about the availability of technology.
Conewago Township Elementary - There is 1 lab, Active Expressions (3 sets to check out of library), Study Island in Reading and Math for K-3. There are 8 slates that can be shared throughout the building. Each Special Education teacher has a set of Active Expressions. There are two webcams for checkout. There is wireless access in the library, and in the Kindergarten wing. There are computers in the library that can be accessed when library classes are not in session.
New Oxford Elementary - There is 1 computer lab, Active Expressions (4 sets to check out of library), Study Island in Reading and Math for K-3, and a promethean board in the computer lab. Each Special Education teacher has a set of Active Expressions. There is one webcam for checkout. There are seven slates in the building. These are available to be checked out to teachers. See the librarian to check one out. There are some computers in the library that can be accessed when library classes are not in session.
Conewago Valley Intermediate School - There is Active Expressions (1 set in principals office to check out), 6 slates are available to share (see principal to get access), Study Island in Reading and Math grades, 4, 5, and 6. Each Special Education teacher has a set of Active Expressions. There is wireless in the library and in the 4th grade hallway (security protected). There are 2 mobile labs housed in the 5th grade wing which can be borrowed. There is a writing lab in room 314 that can be scheduled and when classes are not in room 315 it is available. There are computers in the library that can be access when library classes are not in session.
New Oxford Middle School - There are 3 Active Slates, Active Expressions, Study Island in Math for 7th and 8th graders, 1 mobile cart, Promethean Board in Library classroom, 3 computer labs plus a classroom set (30) computers in the library. Each special education teacher has a a set of Active Expressions. There is wireless access in the cafeteria and in the 7-2 hallway. Labs and mobile cart are checked out via the log in the office.
New Oxford High School - There are Active Votes (1 set in math department, 1 set to check out of library), Study Island used for Math and Reading remediation, 3 writing labs. Mobile carts are currently shared by word of mouth. We have 10 carts available. If a teacher needs a cart check with one of the teachers who has a cart located in their classroom. BYOD is being piloted in the high school in the spring of 2013. There are computers in the library and use for these can be arranged with the high school media specialist.

Building Key Users: - These people are available to help support your technology use within your own building. They can answer many questions and provide help within your own building. Teachers of grades 4-12 should utilize key users for any tech issues and especially for issues related to the gradebook and online attendance. Key Users are the liaisons between the buildings and the tech support within the district. They will be your representatives at the Key User meetings held during the year.

Discovery Education – Passcode: _ for new accounts in your building. Dr. Sipe can assist you in getting set up. SNAP - SNAP is the LIU new and improved online reservation catalog for digital and physical materials and resources. If you need an account, you can email Barb Wants at bawantz@iu12.org. Get information from Dr. Sipe to set up your Discovery Education account prior to using SNAP. Here is a brief screencast telling you more about SNAP.
Standard Aligned System (SAS) – Site open to all teachers. It is free to sign up and use. http://www.pdesas.org New to SAS is the teachscape overview of the new teacher evaluation tool. You must create an account and include your ppid in order to access this overview.
District Drives
District X drive – provides a variety of district-wide resources to teachers such as CVSD forms, board policies, staff development offerings, building/grade level specific information, technology related resources, Learning Focused Schools information, etc.
C Drive- Internal drive on your teacher work station – must be cleared before you leave for summer break or anything on it will be lost when the computers are reimaged over the summer. Please note that Promethean downloads will automatically load to the C drive unless you direct them to a different path. If you are downloading Promethean flipchart or resources, please make sure to move them to your G drive over the summer. If you need assistance with this, contact Dr. Sipe, x1007.
G Drive – Network drive which each person has. This is safe to keep items on over the summer.
Instructions for accessing files from outside of school
In the District X drive inside the Technology folder you will find instructions for accessing your files from home. The instructions will provide, through any web browser on any internet capable computer, any District employee who currently has a network login access to their G Drive files as well as other network drive files that you normally access daily within the District. Click on this link, or copy and paste it into the address box of your preferred browser, and when prompted login with the same credentials you use for the District network or email. When finished make sure to "Exit" using the door button at the top of the window and close your browser window to protect the security of your files.
Some things to keep in mind:
- make sure you have adequate security on the system you're using to access these files to protect from viruses, malware, etc.
- protect your files, your login also allows you access to the H and X drives, which are files shared by many
- you'll need to have the proper, or compatible, software on your system to modify and create files
- the same rules apply with respect to our District "Acceptable Use Policy" all users sign for computer/network access
- this link is also accessible internally on District systems using a web browser
4Teachers.org – Greate site for the creation of rubrics, and the organization of the web sites for students, among other things. Recommend all theachers check this site out at www.4teachers.org/ .
Diigo - A great place to organize your favorite web sites for access anywhere you can get the Internet. Dr. Sipe has a CVSD elementary and CVSD secondary Diigo group you should consider joining. This will allow you to continually be updated with new web resources without have to go out and do your own searchin. In addition, as member of the group you will have access to hundreds of already organized sites. Email Dr. Sipe if you would like an invite to join one or both of the groups.
Teacher Learning Tips:http://www.teacherlearningtips.wikispaces.com is a site created to share a variety of technology resources with teachers. If you would like to be a member of this site go to the link above and when logged into wikispaces, click join in the upper left of the screen. Dr. Sipe will approve your membership and you will then have this wiki site in your listing of wikispaces. You could also add this to your diigo library.
Everyday Math Resources (K-6 teachers only) www.everydaymathonline.com
Provides resource for K-3 teachers to supplement the Everyday Math Program. At the beginning of each year Linda Swift will send out login instructions. Jill Groft, elementary secretary, keeps the enrollment updated for the site and she should be the first contact for any issues. Jenny Shrader, CVIS secretary, maintains the enrollment for the 4-6 grade students.
Focus On Learning – This wikispaces was organized for users to have access to a variety of LFS resources. Teachers can request membership to add additional resources. http://focus-on-learing-cvsd.wikispaces.com/ .
Performance Plus(formerly Performance Tracker) All teachers within the district have access to this web resource to see student testing data. Your Department Chair or Content Liaison will be able to help you use PT. You can also contact Dr. Sipe for assistance. To get to Peformance Plus go to: https://conewago-pa.perfplusk12.com . Google Apps Google Apps should be by the spring of 2013. All teachers K-12 will have a new gmail address to use with their Google Apps account. all students in grades 4-12 will have access to Google Apps and will have gmail accounts also. Workshops coming in March.
